Pattern for a simple hat

I made a hat under duress the other week. It turned out well. The colors (purple and orange) were not me. Anyhoo, here is the pattern.

I used a 16" size six circular needle with worsted weight yarn (Caron simply soft if you care)

Cast on 120 stitches.
K2, P2 in the round until desired length. (I went with length of my hand plus the width of my hand)

Decreasing for the top:
Round 1: K2, p2tog around
Rounds 2 & 3: K2, p1
Round 4: K2tog, p1
Round 5: K1, p1
Round 6: (k1, p1, k1, k2tog, p1, k1, p1, ssk) repeat
Round 7: (k1, pa, k1, k2tog, k1, p1, k2tog)
Round 8: k2tog @ remaining purl stitches. Knit remainder.

Finishing:
Knit as a 6 point star till 12 stitches remain.
